About me as a therapist .... I've been practicing as a therapist for over 10 years, working with people of all backgrounds, ages, religious beliefs, relationship styles, disabilities and cultures. I believe we all deserve kindness, support and understanding, whatever our situation and whatever problems we have. I'm constantly inspired by the people I work with, and am always optimistic about their ability to make sense of even the most difficult experiences and to live rich and rewarding lives.
My professional credentials…. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means I've met recognised standards of professional training, and that I abide by a code of ethical practice, including having regular supervision with a senior member of the profession. My training and qualifications are as follows (as an enthusiastic therapist who loves their work, I never stop learning!):
About my personal background .... Before training as a therapist, I did a PhD and worked as a university researcher in global health, and before that, I did policy work in the UK Civil Service and in a human rights organisation. I spent many years searching for work that was truly meaningful to me - when I found psychotherapy, I knew that was it and I feel fortunate every day to have an occupation that I love. Beyond work, I love nature and the outdoors and am a keen walker, cyclist, swimmer and gardener. I've also had my own personal therapy for many years, both in person and online, so I know something of the experience from your chair too. |
What clients say....
"I have had therapy in the past but the sessions I have had with Sarah have been invaluable. I have learnt coping mechanisms for situations and feelings that previously felt unmanageable. The insight I have gained has helped me manage relationships and I feel more comfortable with myself. Sarah is so easy to talk to and she has a warm, intelligent and non-judgmental approach" F, 36 (Psychotherapy client) "I feel more aware of my own tensions and anxieties and have gained many coping strategies from the sessions. I found Sarah very calm and relaxed - she has a very kind approach" F, 45 (Yoga Therapy client) |
